A little over two months, over two hundred entries, a few false starts and numerous late nights.
Running A Brief History of Bad Things (formerly Hedonist Perspective) with the hopes of it being more than a vanity project has been quite the task. From the beginning, it's been my goal to bring some of my favorite things... sex, vice and politics all together in one place. Over these past two months, I've expanded this idea into waiting to create a sort of condensed news network, compiling articles and opinions from across the internets along with my own.
Something you'll notice about this blog is that despite these very serious times, I don't take what I do particularly seriously. I'm not a journalist of any kind and I've never worked for any think tanks, policy groups or any level of government.
Ultimately, I'm an aspiring author (and a few other things) who reads way too many books, blogs and magazines that's good for a witty quip every now and again. There are a number of excellent left-leaning blogs out there that provide the sort of deep political analysis I couldn't come up with if I tried... so I won't. To me, A Brief History of Bad Things is more about questions than answers. Because while I enjoy hearing and reading those who hold the same beliefs as I do, it's those who don't that are interesting
I have my opinions of course, as well as a desire to inform but mostly I want to entertain. That's why interspersed between the curated commentary will be things like smut (or 'erotic photography' if that sounds better to you) and hilarity, be it intentional or otherwise.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of what to expect from A Brief History. Thank you for stopping by.
